A big favourite of the competitors is the cycle leg which is a one lap course traffic free course through a rural area of Penrith with the Blue Mountains as the back drop.. There is Saturday "Enticer" races for juniors and adults to try the sport and to complete a short distance triathlon. These races are popular with all competitors receiving a race shirt and finisher's medallion for completing their race. The 1813 crossing of the Blue Mountains was the expedition led by Gregory Blaxland, William Lawson and William Charles Wentworth, which became the first successful crossing of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales by European settlers. Visit the historic Lennox Bridge, the oldest bridge on the Australian mainland, and admire the stone masonry skills of the early convicts. Over the past five years Penrith City Council has created almost eight kilometres of walking track along the Nepean River. Known as the "Great River Walk", it features spectacular views of the beautiful river set against the backdrop of the Blue Mountains.
